Today ICANN announced that it had received 1,930 applications for new generic Top Level Domains (gTLD’s), of which around 1,400 are unique. The PhysBiz application for .physio was unique, which means there is no contention over the application.
Managing Director, Glenn Ruscoe, said “We are delighted to see that there will be no contention with the .physio application as it means there will be less delays to moving forward.”
A wide range of gTLD’s were submitted, from company brands (eg Apple, McDonalds, Ferrari) and geographic locations (Sydney, Melbourne) through to the downright unusual (catholic, adult, sucks). Six other profession gTLD’s were sought including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, accountancy and engineering. Physio is in fine company.
A sixty day objection period is now open.
