2018 will be remembered as the year .physio domains went mainstream. Major associations, practice networks, established clinics and industry services around the globe all created new websites with the .physio domain extension.

The reach of these websites to greater audiences would normally be enough to have them in our top 10, and so too would be the quality of their productions. But the winners had one thing more. They selected domain names that when matched with the word ‘physio’ created a new and more powerful brand identity.

Without further ado, in reverse order, here are the top 10 .physio websites for 2018.

Australian physiotherapists Nick Schuster aims to improve the leadership and fulfillment of private sector physiotherapists by better understanding the keys to personal and professional growth.

Start Physio is a Swiss based group of practices who have beautifully blended their new domain into their business tagline, “Request an appointment today and start.physio tomorrow”. It’s a powerful statement that promises action.

8. rheumatology.physio

Jack March is a practitioner in the United Kingdom with a special interest in rheumatology. Jack wanted to build a site to share his knowledge with his peers and promote his educational programs. By securing the keyword domain rheumatology.physio Jack now effectively owns the whole category of rheumatology and physiotherapy in the minds of Internet users.

7. learn.physio

The brainchild of Ben Strachan, learn.physio is a digital marketplace where physiotherapists and physical therapists can buy and sell educational videos. You will discover amazing things about our global profession, and by subscribing you will never miss an edition.

Gravely concerned for the future of musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice in the UK, physiotherapist Jack Chew has called for reform. Not one to just complain, Jack built a website, rallied assistance and organized meetings and conferences with concerned colleagues and built a movement called #TheBigRs.

The International Private Physical Therapy Association (IPPTA) is the peak global body for physical therapy and physiotherapy private practice. It is an affiliation of private practice organisations of nineteen National Physical Therapy Associations and an official sub group of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy. They’ve got a new website and a new domain name.

Australian physiotherapists are renowned for their innovation, so it comes as no surprise that their professional association, the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), is the first national member organisation to move their website over to .physio. When asked why the APA chose to change their website URL to australian.physio, CEO Cris Massis said, “Because it says exactly who we are. And that is great branding”.
