Today, Phys Biz Pty Ltd formally entered into a registry agreement with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the industry’s technical coordinator, to administer .physio. Significantly, the Registry Agreement contract signing occurred over the internet.
“The introduction of over 1,400 new top-level domains (TLD) will create virtual homes for a broad range of communities, allowing for innovation of the like never seen before” said Phys Biz Managing Director Glenn Ruscoe. “We are delighted to be specifically helping the world’s physio/physical therapy community create their own virtual presence on the internet. It will facilitate greater networking, advocacy, education, fellowship and business enterprise; as well as improving communication with customers and promotion of the profession.”
Ruscoe said, “Physio/physical therapy is in a great place with only three other health professions – medicine, dentistry and pharmacy – being represented in this new online space.”
The next stage is pre-delegation testing to ensure all systems are working. Thereafter the process continues toward launch which is expected to be in July 2014.
